Highlights of the LBGT PA Caucus's work to expand education, strengthen community, develop leaders, support LGBTQ+ organizations, and advocate for LGBTQ+ patients and PAs nationwide.

National Recognition

AAPA 2025–2026 Constituent Organization Outreach & Advocacy Award Recipient

Recognized by AAPA for the Caucus's work in outreach, advocacy, education, community building, and engagement across the PA profession.

Education & Professional Development

Expanding access to timely, high-quality education in LGBTQ+ health, equity, policy, and inclusive clinical practice.

LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week

Convened a multi-day national CME series delivering evidence-based education on topics including HIV prevention, documentation, substance use, and culturally competent care.

CME & Webinar Library

Developed a member-accessible library featuring 25 on-demand educational programs focused on LGBTQ+ health, workforce equity, advocacy, and inclusive clinical practice.

National Educational Programming

Facilitated national webinars addressing timely issues including SCOTUS decisions, workforce equity, intimate partner violence, and other topics affecting LGBTQ+ patients and the PA profession.

Community & Professional Connection

Creating spaces where LGBTQ+ PAs, students, allies, and partner organizations can build meaningful community.

Pride & Connection at AAPA

Created an intentionally sober social event at AAPA where LGBTQ+ PAs, students, and allies could connect in an inclusive setting. More than 100 people attended, and 13+ organizations joined the Caucus as co-sponsors.

National Coming Out Day Meetups

Launched the inaugural National Coming Out Day multi-city meetup initiative, creating opportunities for connection, visibility, and community engagement across diverse regions.

Health Equity Reception

Coordinated the annual Health Equity Reception at Denver Sweet in 2025 and Tchoup Yard in 2026, bringing together PAs, students, organizational leaders, and community partners.

Advocacy & Public Voice

Responding to national developments affecting LGBTQ+ patients, healthcare professionals, and access to care.

National Advocacy

Authored public advocacy statements addressing major LGBTQ+ health and policy developments, including the removal of CDC webpages and the SCOTUS decision in Chiles v. Salazar. Caucus advocacy related to the removal of CDC webpages was featured by CNBC.

Cross-Organizational Collaboration

Strengthened partnerships with AAPA constituent organizations through shared advocacy, co-sponsored education, events, and national initiatives.

Student Leadership & Development

Creating pathways for PA students to participate in leadership, advocacy, and equity-focused work.

Inaugural Student Board

Established the first LBGT PA Caucus Student Board, expanding opportunities for PA students to participate directly in organizational leadership and helping build the next generation of Caucus leaders.

Student Leader Fellowship

Mentored PA students through the Student Leader Fellowship, providing leadership development and opportunities to present equity-focused projects at AAPA.

Fellows included Sayad Wahaj and, in collaboration with PAs for Latino Health, Ethan Houser.

Community Investment & Recognition

Recognizing leaders within the profession while directly supporting LGBTQ+ organizations in AAPA host communities.

Host City Awards

Continued the Caucus's commitment to recognizing and financially supporting local LGBTQ+ organizations doing meaningful work in AAPA host cities.

PA of the Year Award

Established the PA of the Year Award to recognize outstanding contributions to LGBTQ+ health, advocacy, leadership, research, clinical care, and service.

Organizational Growth

Building stronger infrastructure to help members connect with the Caucus, access resources, and increase visibility.

Redesigned Website

Redesigned and launched the updated lbgtpa.com, improving access to resources, events, initiatives, and membership information.

First-Ever Online Shop

Launched the Caucus's first online shop with branded apparel, drinkware, and other merchandise supporting visibility, pride, and community connection.
